Captain’s Cup, Saturday 17th December

Saturday 17th December we held our  Annual Captains Cup.

This Castleconnell Boat Club fun event is where we mix all the oarsmen and women into various boats and race off against each other.

Prizes for this year’s events were sponsored by Gerry O Neill and Owen Silke sponsored the food afterwards in Herberts Bar ( Dublin Road) .

It was a fantastic, festive day with a sprinkling of competitiveness and great fun was had both on and off the water!

Many thanks to all who helped organise this festive rowing event.

The Participating Regattas were:

Limerick Regatta

Castleconnell Sprint Regatta

Carlow Regatta

Athlone Regatta

Fermoy Sprint Regatta

Carrick on Shannon Sprints

The winning Castleconnell crews were presented with their winning Waterways Ireland medals at the recent Carrick on Shannon Regatta. Well done to the crews and to their coaches for a great season!

Carrick-On Shannon Regatta and the Inaugural Dragon Boat Invitational Race

For the first time in many years Castleconnell Junior crews took part in the Carrick-on- Shannon Sprint Regatta over the August Bank Holiday Weekend.  Around 50 Club Members travelled to Carrick-on Shannon for the weekend and celebrated the end of a successful season and took part in the lightning fast sprint event.

Castleconnell juniors didn’t let the side down and came away with wins in MJ12 1x, MJ16 2x, MJ16 4x+, MJ15 4x+, WJ14 2x but the race of the day was undoubtedly, The Inaugural Dragon Boat Invitational Race!

Despite some dodgy helmsmanship J….Castleconnell managed to finish ahead of their friends in the Shandon-Fermoy composite boat. It was a wonderful spectacle and epitomised the excellent and friendly spirit of the Regatta and clubs involved.

Many thanks to Carrick Boat Club for welcoming us and for a great regatta.
