Congratulations to Castleconnell BC junior, Eoghan Whittle, and crew who took home two gold medals from Coupe de la Jeunesse which was held in Szeged, Hungary 1-2 August. They raced in the JM4X event. This is a fantastic achievement for Eoghan and this crew as they also won gold in this event last year when it was held in Libourne, France. Well done to all involved
The Irish Rowing Championships took place from the 10th to the 12th of July in Iniscarra, Co.Cork. The anticipated event was well prepared for and this showed for all the Castleconnell Boat Club crews throughout the weekend. We had some terrific performances from both Junior and Senior crews. On Friday afternoon the Junior 14 girls took to the water with both Lauren O’Brien and Norma Silke winning their individual finals. The Junior 15 4x of Eoin Kiely, Conor Mulreidy, Rory O’Neill and James Desmond won their event on Saturday and Rory O’Neill also winning the Junior 14 1x. Clara O’Brien battled it out in the final of the Womens Junior 16 1x on Saturday placing second out of the 22 scullers competing in the event. The standard of rowing in the National Championships is high every year and for Castleconnell BC to come out with these results is a great success.
Congratulations to all rowers who competed over the weekend. On a final note Castleconnell BC junior Eoghan Whittle is competing at Coupe de la Jeunesse which will be held in Szeged, Hungary on 1-2 August 2015. He is racing in the Mens Quadruple Scull and we would like to wish him the very best of luck.
